The Active Times.com is a new, fast-growing website dedicated to all things related to the active, outdoor life, including destinations, gear, interviews and much, much more-and we’re looking for a winter/spring editorial intern to assist us from January-May.
Responsibilities include mining the active sports community for the latest news on the sports, adventures, locales, health and fitness, people and gear that encapsulate the active lifestyle; assisting with pitching, researching and writing active lifestyles news items; helping to increase brand awareness across social media platforms; copy editing and fact checking; photo researching and editing; and just generally assisting editors as needed. Prior editorial experience (internships, student-run publications, etc.), copyediting skills, familiarity with photoshop and knowledge of digital media a plus but not required.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fun, fast-paced, team-oriented environment and has top-notch writing chops. Knowledge of, and participation in, active sports is a distinct advantage. We want people who live and breathe the active life and, by extension, are members of the audience they’re speaking to.
Applicants must receive college credit, and the position is a minimum of 2 days a week, unpaid.
