Prevention is looking for a spring intern (January-May) for the magazine’s editorial beauty and lifestyle department. Applicants must receive college credit for the internship, and the position is 2 – 3 days (minimum 15 hours) a week, unpaid, in the magazine’s New York City office.
The intern will be responsible for researching stories for Prevention’s beauty, home and garden, and lifestyle columns, managing the beauty closet (and testing beauty products!), maintaining a database of industry contacts, and assisting editors administratively. There will be opportunities to pitch and write stories for Prevention and/or Prevention.com. The ideal candidate would be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior interested in a career in consumer magazines who has written for a student-run paper, magazine or website and/or held a previous editorial internship at a website, newspaper, or magazine. Copyediting skills and/or experience working in a beauty or home décor retail environment would be a plus.
