BBC.com is seeking a Producer for sourcing, maintaining and updating content (text, images and AV) published on BBC Travel and the US edition of the BBC.com homepage and in promotional units on BBC.com. The Producer will also be required to assist in the production of online series, special reports and programme support sites specific to the US market. The role
produces stories, slideshows and video. Edits/writes headlines, programme synopses/descriptions and additional editorial content as required - such as links, comment, opinion, votes, competitions, feedback, and newsletters. Sub-edits and prepares journalism for publication on the web. Day-to-day liaison with the Homepage and Development Editors (based in London). Liaises with stakeholders and editorial teams in News, Sport, Travel, Future, Autos and other sources that contribute content to the homepage or on which commercial promotional modules appear. Updates/removes content in line with an agreed schedule. Assists with specific project/product-related tasks and developments, working where necessary with internal users within the BBC.

REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in journalism or BS/BA with equivalent working experience. At least 3 years producing content for the web within a media/agency company or experience as a journalist, producer, editor or similar. Background in news/journalism a plus with sound editorial judgement. Possess a clear, fluent writing style and an ability to produce strong headlines, news summaries and promotional texts. A strong visual sense, experience in picture research and high level image editing skills using Adobe Photoshop. Demonstrated knowledge of digital trends in media and entertainment, emerging technologies and consumer touch-points like social media. Strong attention to detail and an ability to work within established deadlines. Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and deliver recommendations based on data and analysis. Computer skills including familiarity with all MS Office applications. Ability to work in a matrix environment. Highly proactive, curious, and enthusiastic about the digital media space and the news/business/technology/entertainment categories. Native-level command of English a must.
