Digital Spy is seeking a News Sub-Editor to sub-edit copy across the site.
About Digital Spy: Digital Spy is one of the UK’s largest entertainment and media news websites, with more than 100 million page impressions a month and a unique audience of 7.2 million (Jan 2010, Google Analytics). The site is also home to one of the busiest internet discussion forums in the world.
The Position: We are looking for a News Sub-Editor who will be responsible for sub-editing copy across the site. This will include material relating to showbiz, movies, music and TV relevant to both the UK and US markets.
Hours: 2am-8am GMT, Monday-Friday. Possibility for further shifts on a cover basis.
Location: This position is home-based. The successful candidate will require a reliable internet connection and the ability to work from home.
Your Skills:
The successful candidates will:
- have an excellent grasp of the English language, spelling and grammar
- have a good understanding and knowledge of UK and US celebrities
- be able to work quickly and efficiently
- be able to recognize, write in and adhere to the Digital Spy house style
- work as part of a team, communicating regularly with the Editor, News Editor and reporting team based in London and the US
Your Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will be expected to:
- check writers’ copy for accuracy and fluency, and amend accordingly
- source suitable stories for coverage and assign to writers as appropriate
- periodically select articles for placement on the front page and the top stories for each of the entertainment categories
