Popular Mechanics is seeking an enthusiastic intern to help publish stories
on a broad range of topics to its 1.2 million print subscribers and strong
web following. An award-winning, general-interest magazine, Popular
Mechanics covers a number of fields—including science, technology,
entertainment, home, automotive, engineering and the outdoors—and while
the internship will provide a well-rounded journalism experience, an intern
can emphasize any one of these areas. The intern will have opportunities to
work closely with editors on story brainstorming, editing and, ultimately,
design for the magazine. PM encourages interns to regularly pitch and write
stories for PopularMechanics.com, and editors are always happy to help
interns develop as writers. The next available internship begins in our NYC
office in January 2010. Interns should be able to dedicate at least 15-20
hours/week and MUST receive college credit.
