DISCOVER, a science magazine with 6 million readers each month, is looking
for interns to work with our print editing team. We particularly seek
candidates who are enrolled in or have completed a graduate-level science
writing program, though that is not required. Duties of interns include
researching and fact-checking for features and departments, tracking down
story ideas for our news section, and writing short news items for the
magazine and Web site. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn the ropes
of science journalism and the inner workings of a national magazine.
Our next internship will begin in early January and run through May—the
exact dates are flexible. Interns work full-time from our office in lower
Manhattan, and get paid $500 per month.
