Digital Spy is looking for a team of part-time writers based in the US to work for the US version of Digital Spy.
In the UK, Digital Spy is one of the country’s largest media and entertainment news websites, with more than 80 million page impressions a month and a unique audience of 5.4 million (Dec 2008, Google Analytics). The site is also home to one of the busiest internet discussion forums in the world.
The US version of Digital Spy - located at digitalspy.com - will offer American readers select content from the UK site in addition to new, locally-produced content relevant to a domestic audience. Key areas on digitalspy.com will include TV, showbiz, music, movies, gaming, odd news and coverage of major reality shows such as American Idol and Dancing With The Stars.
Digital Spy is searching for enthusiastic writers with a passion for all things entertainment to produce content for the site.
Successful candidates should have:
* A good knowledge of the entertainment industry, particularly in the areas of celebrity news and television, as well as an interest in music and movies
* The ability to both source and produce news articles in the Digital Spy house style, with high frequency and working to fast turnaround times
* The ability to use the in-house content management system to upload content to the site
* High attention to detail and a good grasp of spelling and grammar
* Good organizational skills and strong concentration
* A reliable and fast home internet connection
This job is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to gain some writing experience with one of the world’s largest entertainment news providers.
The following shifts will be available:
* 2pm-5pm ET / 11am-2pm PT (weekdays only)
* 6pm-9pm ET / 3pm-6pm PT (weekdays only)
* Friday and Saturday evenings (exact hours to be negotiated)
Pay will be $10-$15 per hour, dependent on experience and location.
