JAYE is looking for a features editor with a strong editing and reporting background. Ideally, this candidate has a pulse on current issues that impact college-aged women and possesses the ability to translate them into engaging feature packages. You must be a creative thinker, and can juggle multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines. If you’re a team player, well-connected with a large, diverse pool of college-aged women from different backgrounds, have demonstrated an ability to generate ideas that resonate with college-aged women, are familiar with AP Style, know how to turn drab prose into lively pieces without completely rewriting the story and are looking for valuable experience at a publication on the rise, this position is for you. If interested, please be willing to commit to at least six months in the position. Note: this is not a fashion position.
Responsibilities include:
Overseeing the features department
Planning, coordinate and oversee all general-news and lifestyle pieces
Writing stories, sidebars and captions for packages as needed
Recruiting and retaining freelance contributors
Coordinating the work of many reporters at one time
