Rodale, Inc. is currently seeking an Editorial Assistant for the Prevention Books Editorial department in New York City. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn about both direct-to-consumer and trade book publishing and to work with an established magazine brand.
Responsibilities include:
-Preparing manuscripts for production
-Writing promotional copy and sales materials
-Reading and evaluating proposals and manuscripts
-Working with online, production, design, art, legal, sales and marketing departments, as well as with authors, freelancers, and agents
-Maintaining schedules, contract files, status reports, and meeting minutes for the department
-Drafting letters, fielding phone calls, and scheduling meetings
The ideal candidate will possess:
-Bachelor’s degree
-Experience with phones, word processing, general office duties, etc.
-Good editorial judgment and ability to work well with authors, freelancers, and agents
-Good organizational and clerical skills
-Enthusiasm, equanimity, and an interest in health and wellness
-Ability to write well
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office
