Big Think (www.bigthink.com) is an interactive media web start-up. We’re looking for an exceptional candidate to fill a developer / lead developer position.
The ideal candidate is looking to help build a cutting edge interactive experience online and is also deeply committed to the exchange of ideas and bringing ideas to life. The position will report directly to the CEO and President of the company and will oversee technology strategy and implementation, both in-house and through an outside teams of vendors.

Desired Skills:
- Hands-on experience developing hosted applications and have successfully launched a large scale project using PHP, CSS, HTML, AJAX, Flash.
- Excellent Software Engineering Skills: Object Oriented Programming, Component-oriented design, Design Patterns, Unit Testing, Functional Testing
- Strong hands on experience as an architect.
- Ability to manage outsourcing, work with outside developers as well as manage a small team of in-house developers.
- Must be able to roll up the sleeves and be a doer as well as a leader.
- Must be able to effectively converse / collaborate with business side of the house.
- Must be genuinely interested in the Web and its future.
Requirements:
• PHP, CSS, XML, XHTML, Javascript (Ajax), Flash, Ruby
• Familiarity with DOM Scripting
• Expert experience with Web Service API integration
• Strong advocate of clean, semantic markup
• Proven history of working with User Experience designer to implement product design directions
- Expert in SQL (MySQL preferred)
- Extensive experience with Javascript and /HTML/CSS
- Experience with Photoshop
- Ability to work within a Nix environment
- Self-Motivated
- Ability to work within an agile development environment
