An Austin, TX-based publishing company seeks a managing editor to oversee its home and living title, in addition to several smaller publications and projects. A qualified candidate will be able to multi-task. Must be a self-starter who can work closely with the associate publisher, graphic designer, and account executives.
Duties include:
-Overseeing every stage of editorial production, including assigning articles, arranging photo shoots, writing features, and approving layout
-Constantly generating new ideas and establishing relationships with key design and building industry professionals
-Establishing editorial contacts and hiring freelance writers and photographers
-Planning editorial calendars
-Extensive proofreading and copyediting
A working knowledge of AP Style and/or the Chicago Manual of Style is important.
