American Express Publishing is seeking a web designer. RESPONSIBILITIES: Create and extend magazines’ branding online through a visual style, color, typography, and iconography. Create visual looks and feels for editorial packages and promotions and create original graphics. Design new features and functionality. Develop concepts and implement ideas rapidly into wireframes and XHTML prototypes.. Solve usability issues and analyze and improve user experience. Act as the design liaison with magazines and initiate and manage design reviews. Document design best practices and style guides. Perform other job related duties. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: At least 3 years experience in interactive design; experience at a large travel, food and/or lifestyle website preferred. Strong visual design skills and keen eye for detail and typography; illustration skills a plus. Experience in information architecture and user experience. Expertise in Adobe PhotoShop, Macromedia Flash, XHTML, and CSS. Advanced programming skills considered strong pluses. Must be able to take direction and work well with team members. Must have strong portfolio of online design. Must be flexible.
