Washingtonian.com seeks a savvy web producer to join the online editorial team at the website Washington lives by. The producer will play a key role in maintaining our growing roster of blogs and databases, bringing magazine content to an online audience, building web packages, and building out additional website features. We’re looking for someone with a sharp and creative eye for detail, whether it’s the color in a Photoshop image or the font in a logo, but this is not a writing position.
Key skills include:
-2 years experience producing a range of online content in a fast-paced environment
-Strong HTML skills
-Strong Photoshop skills
-Experience with InCopy a plus but not required
-Experience with video editing—we use Final Cut Pro
-Experience with content promotion through social media
-Excellent news judgement, including experience writing headlines and choosing leading stories
-The ability to work with multiple departments, across multiple subject areas
Responsibilities include:
-Overseeing a team of content production interns to post a daily budget of blog posts, working in conjunction with relevant editors
-Planning and overseeing production of magazine content for Washingtonian.com
-Producing web packages on subjects ranging from style coverage to politics to day trips
-Producing and overseeing production of slideshows and other multimedia
-Managing content flow on homepage and section pages in coordination with editors
-Producing homepage and section page graphics
-Managing basic website maintenance and basic quality control
-Maintaining consistent editorial and style standards across Washingtonian.com
Salary: Commensurate with experience
