Success Stories

I graduated in December into what has constantly been described as "the
worst job slump in recent history." Definitely not encouraging, but
then I saw an ad for an editorial internship on your site. It was for
an electronics magazine, and even though it wasn't the type of
publication I was really interested in, the job was paid and in New
York, so I sent in my resume. A week later, I went in for an interview
and was hired the very next day.

Go Jenna! Ed's excited, too!

“Hiya, Ed. If it wasn’t for your site, I never could have found out about all of the great spring internships I applied to—and the fabulous one I landed with Seventeen! Yay! Thank you, thank you, thank you!”—Jenna Adolph

I discovered Ed2010 after I graduated college in December 2006. I virtually had no idea how I was going to step into this tough industry. With one b2b magazine internship and one web editorial internship and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, I felt really unprepared. Ed not only provided me with a wealth of information, it also gave me a game plan on how to enter this industry.

My paid web editorial internship ended this March and I began to

I am an Ed2010 success story!

I had been trying since October to find a great EA position at a
magazine, and was beginning to get really frustrated. There weren't
many positions out there, and most of the ones that were out there were
at magazines with topics I didn't know much about. That hurt my
prospects.

Jennifer ONeill

Jennifer ONeill landed an editorial assistant spot at Allure via Ed2010, and now she's moved on to Us Weekly.

Dearest Ed,

Thanks to you, I got both my dream NYC mag job and dream NYC apartment (and roommates!) in the past two days. You are amazing, and if I knew who you were, I’d buy ya about 200 drinks.

YAY,
Katy

Ed’s Note: Yay back atcha. Happy to help!

My magazine dreams started coming true on my final day of being a college student when two Seventeen editors offered me a spring semester internship in the features department. I had only applied for the internship two days prior when I saw the ad on my favorite website, Ed2010.com. I applied for it in the middle of my finals week and about 30 minutes later I was on a phone interview. I packed up two suitcases and in a hop, skip and a flight, I was no longer in California.

Ed2010 helped me get my first magazine job, as an editorial assistant
(and later assistant editor), at Redbook. After I left Redbook, Ed gave me some great leads for freelance assignments.

After
graduating in May of 2002, I struggled most of the summer finding a
starting point in the magazine industry. After a few interviews, information
sessions and many revises of my cover letter, I heard about Ed2010 from
a friend and dedicated myself to searching its whispers everyday. In
mid-August I saw a small notice about an internship at Parenting
and immediately faxed my information. About a week later, I was there
for an interview and by the end of the month was settled in to The Parenting

Nathan Whitney

After graduating from Syracuse University, Nathan Whitney snagged his gig as an editorial assistant at CVC Report, a music video trade magazine, from an ad on Ed2010's job page.

I was a magazine journalism major at Temple University ‘08 and the co-founder of Ed @ Temple. I’m now working as an assistant editor at Hearst Digital Media. And get this…I was officially hired BEFORE graduation! Thanks for all your help, Ed!

I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your site and how helpful I've found it. It is very hard to find published job advertisements, and, when I do, maneuvering around those sites can be very daunting. Your listings are easy to navigate and full of information. Also, the additional job links provided are wonderful. Thanks again for such a useful and well put together site!

Dear
Ed,

I just want to say thank you for your role in landing me my second job
in magazine journalism—which also happens to be the second job
that I’ve landed in the past several years thanks to an Ed tip.

I graduated in May 2009 and landed an editorial assistant position at a national magazine a few weeks later. A billion thanks to Chandra and the Ed2010 community - and here’s why. Two of my internships came from WhisperJobs, I attended last year’s Kick-A** intern panel, did a one-on-one resume critique, and attended the Ed2010 conference. All the advice from the conference was spot on - I contacted HR reps and did several informationals the week I graduated. My resume was passed on to the executive editor, and I was called in for an interview.

Ed2010 is the absolute best resource I’ve discovered for getting real, useful, honest-to-goodness advice on moving up on the magazine world. I got my first magazine internship through Ed (which turned into a full-time job), met with a fantabulous mentor and still go to the classes and events now that I’m a gainfully employed. Last, but not least, I recruit all my fabulous interns from Ed! Thank you!
