My magazine dreams started coming true on my final day of being a college student when two Seventeen editors offered me a spring semester internship in the features department. I had only applied for the internship two days prior when I saw the ad on my favorite website, Ed2010.com. I applied for it in the middle of my finals week and about 30 minutes later I was on a phone interview. I packed up two suitcases and in a hop, skip and a flight, I was no longer in California.
I could have been happy being an intern for life, but that doesn’t work so well financially when you are living in NYC. To help combat the costs of this city, I applied for Ed’s Trust Fund. One day I woke up with a note from Ed in my inbox telling me I was the spring Trust Fund recipient. I saved as much of the money as I could (hey, a girl can only eat SO much ramen!) because I was on my own for June rent. A combination of Trust Fund money and graduation money allowed me to stay in NY for June to continue my job hunt. Dreams do come true with hard work and determination—and having Ed on your side funding some of it too! Now I’m an Assistant Editor at TWIST magazine. Here’s to you, Ed!
