I am an Ed2010 success story!
I had been trying since October to find a great EA position at a
magazine, and was beginning to get really frustrated. There weren't
many positions out there, and most of the ones that were out there were
at magazines with topics I didn't know much about. That hurt my
prospects.
Then one day, I saw a posting for an editorial internship at Parenting
magazine. I had already held unpaid internships at Bop and CosmoGIRL!,
and thought at first that I didn't want another internship. But then I
saw that this position was PAID - not a lot, mind you, but PAID -
something extremely rare in the magazine business. I also liked the
fact that it was full-time, because I had never worked full-time before
and knew this would give me great experience.
I went on the interview over a month ago, got called back two weeks
ago, and started last week! I am already learning so much and meeting
so many wonderful people. Because I am the only intern, I get to do a
lot more than I did at the other mags, where I was one of several. I
look forward to this experience leading me into bigger and better
things!
