Hampton Roads Magazine, the region’s only lifestyle magazine, is seeking
motivated and outgoing interns for the Editorial Department during the
spring semester. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
assembling the Datebook/calendar of events, managing press releases/story
pitches, acquiring images/art, general research and fact checking,
assisting in copy editing and proofing pages, helping with large-scale
projects and events and general administrative duties. There also may be
opportunity to write small and medium length pieces for the publication.
Ideal candidates are college sophomores, juniors or seniors seeking real
world experience in the magazine industry. Experience writing and editing
preferred. Internship is unpaid and dates/hours are flexible, although a
minimum of 16 hours/week is ideal.

Angeleno magazine, a monthly L.A. lifestyle glossy, is now accepting
applications for its unpaid spring 2010 editorial internship semester,
which runs from the first week of January through the end of May. The
publication focuses on fashion, dining, nightlife, home design, beauty,
travel, Hollywood, and the arts.

Duties primarily include fact-checking, proofing, research, party
coverage, editing calendar listings, frequent blogging, and occasional
short magazine writing assignments. Interns, in short, spend the vast
majority of their time interacting with editorial copy, although some
standard office duties are incorporated into their days.

Applicants must commit to a two-day rotation (either Mon/Wed, Wed/Fri,

The book and site are focused on helping girls and young women who emotionally overeat or binge. YOU: exceptional research skills, very organized, good with deadlines, background in journalism or a solid understanding of journalistic ethics and concepts. (Ideally you’d also have some sort of personal or special interest in eating disorders, overeating or obesity.) Mediaite.com, the media news site launched by Dan Abrams (Chief Legal Analyst, NBC News), is seeking editorial interns for Spring 2010.
