Apply to the 1st Annual Ed on Campus Conference in NYC!

Ed2010 is bringing college students from across the country together for a four-day conference April 2-5, 2009 in NYC.

Apply and and you will:
—Attend panels and workshops on how to break into all areas of magazine publishing (including fashion/beauty, celebrity, food and lifestyle, web, and more); plus how to ace an edit test and live in NYC for cheap.
—Meet human resources reps from the major NYC publishing houses
—Tour the offices of NYC consumer magazines
—Participate in one-on-one resume critique/mock interviews from magazine editors
—Network with editors, the Ed2010 staff and other college students at special events
—Get paired with a NYC Ed host to help you navigate the city and plan your trip.

The Ed on Campus 2009 National Conference is co-sponsored by Columbia University’s Center for Career Education. CLICK HERE TO APPLY . It begins with an optional reception on Thursday, April 2; all day Friday and Saturday will jam-packed with tours, workshops, panels and classes. Sunday, April 5 will be the one-on-one meetings with editors. Conference will end by Sunday afternoon.

FEES
Estimated basic conference fee: $55.00
Estimated conference fee + 3 nights lodging: $165.00

NOTE: Final fees will be determined by Dec. 15 and will be posted on this page and emailed to you after you submit an application. (Chances are good they won’t change much if at all.) Regardless, fees will not cover food, transportation, or other incidentals except for continental breakfast Saturday and Sunday and a pizza dinner Friday night. Plan to budget $15 for lunch and $25 for dinners in the city. Subway fare in NYC is $2 per ride.

LODGING
Lodging for out-of-town students will be provided by Hosteling International New York, an upscale hostel located near the conference facilities on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, for a special Ed2010 conference rate (see fees above); unfortunately less than three night stays are not available.
NOTE: Ed has reserved rooms just for Edsters, but space is limited. Apply early!

APPLICATION
This conference is open to all undergraduate students. The deadline to apply is December 1, 2008. CLICK HERE TO APPLY . After we receive your application, you will be notified by December 15, 2008 via email if you’ve been accepted to attend the conference. In this email we will provide a link for you to pay for the conference via Pay Pal using your Pay Pal account or a major credit card. All fees will be due by January 10, 2009. No personal checks will be accepted and no refunds will be provided.

Ed's Latest Trust Fund Baby: Sam Warren

A newbie to New York City after graduating in January 2008 from Cornell University, Sam Warren recently was awarded Ed’s Trust Fund of $1,000. The young whippersnapper is interning for free at both Forbes.com and Weight Watchers. In his winning essay, he talked about the magazine industry being his “perfect job scene.” His dream job? To be the Senior Nerd Editor of Wired. When Ed read that, he knew he’d found his latest Trust Fund winner! Congrats, Sam!
