FAQ

How Do I Start a City Chapter?

All Ed2010 City Chapter hosts must be on edit staff at a magazine (print or Web) in their city. City Chapter hosts should throw an Ed2010 event – whether that be a happy hour, speaker, book club meeting, workshop, etc. about every two or three months. Intrigued? Start by gathering a list of mag edit people in your city who are interested in going to networking events. E-mail friends of friends and colleagues at mags to see who’s in and what types of events they’d like to see in your area. Then email colleen@ed2010.com to get your chapter started.

ABOUT

What are City Chapters?

Every month or so we meet at a bar for happy hour to meet each other and swap job info, gossip, and tips. Happy Hours take place in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Des Moines, Toronto, Birmingham, Washington, D.C., Boston, Louisville, Austin, Baton Rouge, Baltimore and Cincinnati. We’re looking for editors on staff at magazines in Portland/Eugene, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, San Francisco, St. Louis and several other cities to become Ed2010 City Chapter hosts. ED IS MOVING AND SHAKING

Over the past year Ed has started roots in Philadelphia, D.C., Atlanta, and is even considering hopping across the pond to London! Check out each City Chapter’s page to get involved with a chapter near you!

BECOME A CITY CHAPTER CO-HOST

Yes, it’s true. City Chapter hosts must be full-time editors at a print or online mag. But don’t despair! If you want to get a chapter started in your area but don’t meet all the requirements, find a friend or colleague to be a host and you can help as co-host! E-mail colleen@ed2010.com for more details on how to get the ball rolling.
