City Chapters Skyline

Spring is in the air, and it’s time to meet up with your Edster friends for some mag chat. Join Atlanta Ed and Karen Marks, assistant director of Kennesaw State University’s Career Services Center, Thursday, May 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. She’ll teach you how to move your resume to the top of the pile, find hidden job leads, and look outside of the consumer magazine box for work. Meet at The Melting Pot, 2500 Cobb Place Lane, Suite 800, Kennesaw, 770-425-1411 (they’ll have cheese fondue, appetizers, drink specials and a great outdoor patio!). Please RSVP to suzannemag@gmail.com.

If you’re in Minneapolis, join take advantage of awesome happy hour specials—2-for-1 mixed drinks, $5 martinis, $3 beer and wine, and $5 appetizers—with your Ed friends at The Independent (Calhoun Square, 2nd Floor, Uptown). They’ll be there Wednesday, May 28 at 5:30 p.m. Feel free to bring a friend or co-worker, or just head over by yourself—we’re all quite friendly. They’ll have an ‘Ed2010’ sign so you know who they are.

ABOUT

What are City Chapters?

Every month or so we meet at a bar for happy hour to meet each other and swap job info, gossip, and tips. Happy Hours take place in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Des Moines, Toronto, Birmingham, Miami, Minneapolis, Washington, D.C., Tampa Bay, Louisville, Austin, Baltimore, Cincinnati, and Portland/Eugene. We’re looking for editors on staff at magazines in Indianapolis, St. Louis, San Francisco and several other cities to become Ed2010 City Chapter hosts. E-mail Emily@ed2010.com if you’re interested!

IS ED COMING TO YOUR CITY?

We’ve got a few chapters in the works, including Cincinnati, Kansas City and *possibly* London. Check back soon for more details!

TRY A NEW EVENT

Happy hours are great, but check out these ideas: LA has a book club; Birmingham just threw an ice cream social; Atlanta hosted a lecture by an art director. E-mail Emily@ed2010.com and she’ll hook you up with more, out-of-the-box ideas.

SCORE A GIG!

Whether you’re in Manhattan or the Midwest, Ed’s got WhisperJobs from across the country. Ch-ch-ch-check ‘em out, and don’t forget to send us your own good leads.
