Uptown Literati, a website for cool chicks that dig great books, is looking for Spring and/or Summer interns and contributors! Our site (UptownLiterati.com) takes a refreshingly unpretentious look at high-brow literature.
The ideal candidate will be a smart writer with a well-developed and original tone. You will be an avid reader with at least 5 hours/week to devote to the job. You’re creative and fun (and can reflect that in your prose), but you’re also punctual, professional and committed to being a great intern or contributor.
I can’t pay you, but there’s a LOT of flexibility with this gig: You decide your own work hours, get a regular column and can be as involved with the development of the blog as you want. Previous interns have helped us develop our social media (big resume booster!), interviewed authors and even stirred up a little publishing industry controversy. Plus, you can get school credit if you’d like.
I’m based in Washington, D.C., so local folks are great, but you can work from anywhere as long as you have access to ‘Net.
If you’re interested, please send an email telling me about your background and literary interests, along with a paragraph on your favorite book, to Whitney at wteal@uptownliterati.com.
