I have an internship starting in 2 weeks at a high-end magazine in the Graphic design department and am wondering the etiquette on asking if there is a travel stipend. The roundtrip train from CT is $31 and I have to go in 3 days a week.
Is it rude of me to ask if they provide this before my first day? Or should I just wait and see?

you’re not going to get a stipend. this is a lot of money per train but maybe you should get a 10-ride, etc. this is something that could have been considered before you applied, because if they haven’t told you there is a stipend by now, there isn’t one.

I interned at Hearst (not Cosmo), and I didn’t get a stipend. I didn’t ask for one, but I’m pretty sure they just don’t give them out. At Conde you get a flat stipend of $12 a day.
I definitely wouldn’t bring it up before you even start.
