Would I need a Masters? What do I do now?

Hi Everyone,

I recently interviewed for a job in the industry that is absolutely perfect for me and is my dream job, but in the event I do not get it, I got accepted into graduate school for the spring.

The graduate school program I would be entering is for a MA in English & Publishing with a track in production and design.

I’m really praying I get this position, but if I don’t, should I go ahead with the masters program?

I have already done 2 internships. 2 while in college and 2 after college. I have also been published by 6 or 7 different publications, did some freelance design work for a magazine and even had an essay published by The New York Times.

I graduated college a year ago and have been applying for jobs in the industry since before I graduated.

I’m debating.. should I go ahead and go into the masters program or just continue applying? Getting a interview at a major magazine was huge for me.

Now, if I don’t get the job and decide not to go to graduate school.. what would I do? I can’t really do internships anymore since they all want college students. I do have a part time job where I design a newsletter and I can try to get back into doing freelance design. Which route will land me that dream job? But again, I’m really hoping I get the dream job I interviewed for! I know I should probably wait to hear back from the job first.. but I need to let the graduate school know soon if I accept.

If I don’t get the job, am I aloud to ask for advice on what I could improve for a future position with the company? I do feel like I do bad in interviews because I get nervous but I would like to think my portfolio, resume and enthusiasm makes up for that.
