Tried & true interview outfits?

I’m having a hard time deciding what to wear. Since I’m going to be on a plane for several hours, I’d also like to be less fussy.

So what’s your tried and true outfit?
- top + pencil skirt
- dress
- top + dress pants

Heels?
Flats?

Let’s hear it.

Black cashmere sweater,

Black cashmere sweater, black jersey DVF pencil skirt, black Louboutin heels, and simple diamond studs—fitted but not distracting, and none of it wrinkles. If it’s wet or snowy, I sometimes switch in black tights and suede boots. I never wear bracelets because I talk with my hands a lot. I always wear flats to the appointment and change into heels when I get into the lobby so I’m not sweaty if I have to run for a subway.

The most important thing is that you’re wearing something you’re comfortable in—it’s not the moment to bring out your brand new pair of high heels or give that new strapless bra a test run.

I would suggest if you’re going to be on a plane that you fly in leggings, a sweater, and flats, pack your interview clothes, and change into them after you land. Even if you’re not carrying luggage, you should have no trouble fitting your plane clothes into a reasonably sized handbag. You should never wear something “fussy” to an interview, but if you can avoid showing up in creased clothing, you might as well.

I have two or three BCBG

I have two or three BCBG dresses and plain black pumps that I always seem to go to. Also, one slate grey dress from Anthropologie purchased last year. Always simple on the jewelry :)
