winter break internship

I am looking for a winter break internship (mid December-late January). Do such internships exist or is it too short of a time span to have an internship?

Yes there are internships

Yes there are internships over winter break. Glamour just posted one on this website in the fashion department (I’m not sure what you are necessarily looking for). And I emailed a few magazines about possible internships over the winter and they have gotten back to me and asked for availability; that shows they are most likely looking for people during that time. Good luck.

I had one

I did a winter break internship at a small local publication in the Midwest a few years ago. It ended up being only two weeks, basically from January 2 til I went back to school (the magazine chose the dates). As I’m sure you know, you’ll get a much more thorough experience interning for a longer period of time. Still, it was one more place to get a feel for, make contacts, etc.

I don’t know if the big names have winter break internships - someone else might be able to speak to that. But I would try smaller publications - it can’t hurt. They might not have a formal winter internship program, but they could let you help out for a few weeks. Just my two cents.
