NYT just had a job posting for an editorial assistant in their syndicate columnists department (it was on mediabistro a few weeks back)… I wonder if the twins applied for it… hell, maybe they even got the gig…
just saw that article..thanks for the jezebel link.
at first i felt pretty bad for the girls, but the “$800 a week” made me realize it was just another one of those “feel bad for the rich folks” nyt specialties. i work full time and make way less than that in sf (and i live in oakland..where my rent is still too much). my bf is out of a job and yet here we are. if someone offered him $800 a week to bartend 3 nights a week, you can bet that he’d jump on it AND be proud of how much he was making..not qq’ing about how broke he was to a sympathetic nyt reporter.
I work 40 hours a week as an editor for a newspaper and make half of what she does working 3 night a week at a bar. I’m not crying for them. Yes, my cost of living is lower since I don’t live in NYC, but seriously…$800 for only THREE nights a week? Girl, your starting salary at any of those communications job is going to be less than that…
nyt was hiring
