Hi! I am looking to rent out my 1 BR in a 3BR apartment in Astoria, $700/month, plus a $700 deposit, starting Aug. 1.
The apartment is good sized by New York standards, with three bedrooms, one bathroom, living room and kitchen. Lots of closet space (4 hall closets). It is located near 21st Street and 24th Avenue in Astoria, about a 10-minute walk from the N/W trains at Astoria Boulevard, or just one block from the Q69 bus stop. It’s in a duplex with the landlord living beneath us (we’re upstairs), which is nice because anything something needs fixed, he gets it done promptly. We’re just five minutes from the awesome Astoria Park and the public pool and also four or five blocks from the Astoria Beer Garden! It’s in a nice, safe and quiet residential neighborhood, with laundry (just around the corner), bodegas, a wine bar and more nearby.
Your roommates are two twentysomething females, both originally from Indiana. One works for a major men’s magazine and is a comedy performer and the other is an waitress/actress/costume designer. Both are very cool and down to earth and easy to get along with. Not home a whole lot but are fun to hang out with if you want that option. One of the roommates also has a dog, Chloe, so you must like dogs or at least be open to living with one (not allergic). You would not be responsible for any walking/feeding/taking out of the dog unless you wanted to be since it’s one of the roommates’ dog, but you must be cool with one living here and willing to love it!
This is a short-term position, as the lease is up October 1, so you would only be responsible for August and September. You would, however, have the option to re-sign the lease if everything works out if you and the other roommates so choose at Oct 1. Rent is $700/month, plus one month’s rent ($700) deposit. Utilities (electric and cable/Internet) are usually less than $100/month each, depending on the season (a little bit more in the summer with A/Cs running) and include electric and Internet (we currently don’t have cable TV, but if you wanted it, you could activate it if you want to pay the extra. We used to have cable TV but canceled it because we just were never home to watch it).
The room can come furnished if you would like. Items up for sale include: full-size bed, dresser, A/C unit, TV, bookcase, shelves, side table. All prices are negotiable depending on how many things you need.
If interested, please feel free to get in touch with me: grammar.girl.nyc [at] gmail [dot] com. I have plenty of photos that I can send along!
