Fashion/PR Advice Needed!!

Hi all! I recently just landed an interview with the PR department at Burberry. I’ve interviewed at magazines before, but never for a fashion corporation. Has anyone interviewed/interned at a high-end fashion label like Burberry before? What was it like? Any advice? Thanks!!

I was wondering how you

I was wondering how you landed such an interview?

p.s. congrats!!

Actually I saw the posting

Actually I saw the posting at freefashioninternships.com. It’s a great website (but not as good as Ed of course haha).

It’s not that different,

It’s not that different, though Ive only done it a few times.
-Make sure you’ve researched the history of the brand well, and that you’ve looked through their recent collections, the way you would try and look through recent issues of a magazine.
-Know if they’ve recently changed lead designers, management, etc., and try and take note of the magazines they’re advertising in to see who they’re trying to cater to.
-Have a good catalog of the work that you did in magazines that brought you into contact with PR reps to show that you have some idea of what they do, even if it was just calling in product loans,
-Don’t be afraid to emphasize your writing skills and experience as an asset, just make sure that you don’t hedge when they ask you if you want to be in PR or magazines. This is a trick question. The correct answer is that you only want to do whatever the job it is you’re interviewing for. At Vogue the answer is “Fashion magazines,” at Details it’s “Men’s magazines,” so at Burberry PR it’s “Luxury PR.” They’re not interested in hearing about any internal debate over your future goals.
-And, because I know you’re wondering, no, do not wear anything from Burberry unless it is a well-loved scarf or something tiny that you genuinely do always wear. Just wear something simple, stylish, and well-cut—I would err on the side of “classic” for Burberry, rather than anything trendy.

Wow, that was very helpful!
