ashbash, this is exactly

ashbash, this is exactly what you have to look out for - rude people like the people who responded to your post. they will pull you down and make you feel like you may not be qualified for an internship, but don’t let them get you down. EVERYONE makes mistakes.

on another note, i have applied to this internship. they already filled the spot and let me know that so that was nice of them (instead of just waiting around when someone doesn’t even plan on letting you know.) so, good luck! they seem really nice.

thanks so much. i never take

thanks so much. i never take what people say to heart, especially since i dont know them! lol it was an honest mistake, i did look up the company and i just put “the” in front of family circle for whatever reasoning.
anyways, Amanda Flores contacted me this morning asking me to come in for an interview for the fashion/beauty department. is that what you applied for?

no, i had applied for

no, i had applied for editorial i think. but i meant to say it wasn’t for this upcoming summer. it was for this spring (aka right now). i just waited too long to apply, unfortunately.

oh okay, well i’m sure

oh okay, well i’m sure you’ll find something great. good luck! :)

Didn’t mean to sound so

Didn’t mean to sound so critical, but come on-if you’re applying for an internship at least get the name of the publication right. That’s what Google is for.

WOW. sorry…..lol you

WOW. sorry…..lol you really don’t have to be rude about it though. Good luck with your interview.

Oh my gosh.

I’m interviewing with them this week, and I have to say, if I was an editor at Family Circle who just happened to be browsing these boards, I’d write you off right there for getting the publication’s name wrong. It’s Family Circle, not “The Family Circle”. Second, if you are just interviewing with them for the heck of it, don’t bother. Plenty of people actually do want to intern there (myself included) because they already like and know the publication.

I dont think thats good advice

With this economy its not smart to just apply to place you WANT to work for. Any experience is good experience and everyone should have a fair shot at that. That being said, I do think people who KNOW the publication the best should get the internship, but that doesn’t mean other people shouldn’t try.
Oh and OF COURSE you need to get the name right. I know you probably just posted that question quickly, but that’s one of the easiest things to get right.

Good luck to everyone applying. Let’s keep the message board polite and with sound criticism though…it is what makes this board so helpful.

Twigie2

actually . . .

it’s FAMILY CIRCLE magazine, not THE FAMILY CIRCLE magazine. thx
