I’ve been checking the condenast website every day, multiple times a day since January for details on their summer internship and they still have yet to post anything. Does anyone know exactly what their criteria is so I can be prepared to send it right in once I’m actually able to apply? Thanks.

So I just tried calling HR to see when we will all finally know the status of our applications. Last week I called at 3:30, the woman transfers me to HR and I get an answering machine. Today, I call at 1:20 and the same thing happens. Don’t they know people are waiting for a response???

I have 2 other internships
I have 2 other internships on hold waiting to hear from them. I interviewed over a month ago! This wait is getting out of control. I wish they would at least tell everyone whether they are at least in or not regardless if they have positions decided. It’s getting late and housing will start to become hard to find!
If I haven’t heard back
If I haven’t heard back about scheduling an interview yet, I figure that’s a bad sign, right? I mean, I didn’t apply ‘till less than a week before the deadline … and have been optimistically hoping they just hadn’t gotten to my application yet. Is that too far fetched / should I move on to other options or is there still a chance? I suppose I don’t actually expect anyone to be able to answer that, but I’m just getting so restless!

I am still waiting to hear from Conde- are other people still waiting? I am sort of assuming it isn’t looking good for me, which is fine, but I am not sure how long I can hold off on other opportunities. Are there other’s still waiting to hear? They keep pushing back the notification date.. we were supposed to hear by midweek but HR told me today that it’ll most likely be on Monday (but that day’s probably subject to change too). Even if it’s a rejection, I wish they would just let us know already!

Spoke to the front desk at HR - “decisions have been made” but then “decisions will be made by the week of the week”. Guess they have the candidates but maybe are deciding individual spots. I’m guessing the “out of the office” thing is a ruse - I’m sure a ton of people are calling. Is April 14th still considered “early april”? I’m surprised they didn’t get word out before the easter/passover holiday or at least before tax day.

I have no idea what it’s going to be like, but it probably varies from book to book. The lady who called to offer me the spot told me that since I’m at one of their trade pubs, I’d probably get to do some writing, but I don’t know if interns at consumer mags are going to have that opportunity. But I think we get to attend a speakers program and if I’m not mistaken we’ll be working on an intern magazine. I know that’s happened in the past, but I’m not sure if they’re still doing it this summer.

Hi! If I remember correctly, you posted in the other threads too about interning at a CN mag, right? I think you should be good to go because you were offered it by a specific magazine and not through the actual summer program from Conde. That’s why I was confused about all these threads too because there’s a ton of publications under Conde that offer their own separate internships and then there’s the official program that places you at a magazine itself. I say wait a couple more days and then email back your interviewer reminding her about the schedule. I’m sure she wouldn’t retract her offer or anything, she’s probably just extremely busy. Congrats though!!

You don’t really figure out/get your schedule until you actually start. Or that was what my experience was. I think you said you already got offered the internship but they still might be interviewing other people and don’t even have all their interns yet to make a schedule.
