Research for documentaries

Hi All,

I am trying to transition into a job doing research etc for documentary film companies, a TV network or somthing similar. I am currently working in Marketing for a website and am not very happy with the job. I always wanted to be doing research or helping out with documenries in some way but with the economy the way it is I decided to stick with the job I had for obvious reasons.

I am mostly interested in being one of the people who research various topics/subjects etc that might be of interest. Does anyone know how to go about doing this?
