Moving backwards - From NY to LA

I’ve been working in magazines since I first graduated college three years ago. I’ve interned and worked in publications based in New York City and New Jersey and though the opportunity is in NY, I’m looking to move out west to Los Angeles.

I don’t have many contact there, but I’m planning a trip in January to meet with as many editors as I can(informational interviews). I’m looking to go into music writing, but am also very open to PR jobs relevant to entertainment.

Anyone else in this boat or in the LA area that can shed a little light on the LA publishing/entertainment journalism scene?
