interning in NY/LA

Hi,
I was just wondering is it possible for someone who is not from the U.S. to score an internship in NY or LA for the summer particularly the Conde Nast summer intern program I have good experience I intern at relatively well known designer, write for all my college publications, as well as being the sole writer of my college newspapers fashion features and am on the committee of the fashion based society in my college where we organise annually our award winning fashion show as well as trips abroad industry workshops etc would I still be overlooked because I do not live in America or is there any chance that they would embrace that fact and see it as a plus?
