I’m interviewing for the EA position at Family Circle next week and wanted to know if anyone out there has any advice about the mag or staff. Experiences? Tips? Horror stories?
They told me they had one more person to see this week just before the holiday and that they’d let everyone know one way or the other, most likely immediately after T-Gving, but maybe before if they had time.
I was told they were going to be making their decision last week, but no word yet. Does anyone know if the position been filled or when they will be deciding?
Hm. Must have just been me. Congrats on the 2nd interview! I’m guessing they’ve probably called everyone in for second interviews that they want at this point if they’re supposed to be making a decision soon…Do you mind my asking when they scheduled it?
I interviewed for this position, and was surprised at how strenuous the edit test was. Just curious for any others who took it as well - is this standard for an EA position?
I didn’t think it was too bad. This was the first time I’d been given an edit test, and I was actually pretty relieved when I looked it over. What surprised me was what the test didn’t ask for rather than what it did. Nothing to edit? That was unexpected.
I had my interview Monday - the choice was that or Tuesday, so they might not be taking the whole week. The EA’s last day was this past Friday, so they need someone ASAP.
How did you manage to get interviewed for an NY position when not being in NY? Are you in New Jersey or somewhere close where you can commute? I didn’t think they would give the time of day to out of staters, either that or you have a crazy good resume…congrats to you.
Wish I were in New Jersey or somewhere closer! I’m in Alabama… so it will be quite a trip making it up there. I knew I’d have to attack the fly-to-an-out-of-state-interview-hassle if they actually called back, but even if things don’t work out, the experience will be worth it, I think.
I’m also interviewing for the EA position at FC. Are you doing an in-person or phone interview? I’m out of state and didn’t know if they covered travel expenses, etc. I’m guessing they don’t, but didn’t know if you might know for sure…
I interviewed in person, but I live in NY. I don’t know what Meredith’s specific policy is, but companies don’t typically foot the bill for entry-level candidates’ travel costs.

Hiring freeze!
Just heard back that a hiring freeze was announced at Meredith this past Monday, so the position will not be filled at this time.
Not sure if this is better or worse than being rejected, but it’s definitely more frustrating. Argh.

Interview questions
after someone is hired, could you post what types of questions are asked during an EA interview?
