Hi everyone,
So I’m absolutely clueless about cover letters and resumes. In a nutshell, I have no experience in the fashion industry and I’m a senior majoring in advertising but I’m more interested in fashion design. My work experience is basically 2 summer internships/work from high school, one for an art gallery and one for a day-care center, and two semesters working at the campus bookstore. I’ve also worked as a volunteer in 4 fashion shows. Should I include the internships even though it’s not relevant to the fashion industry? What can I do to help “fill out” my resume and how do I go about writing the resume/cover letter? If anyone can provide an example of a good cover letter it’ll be really helpful!
Also, where can I find out about fashion related internships and volunteer jobs in San Francisco, CA?
Thanks in advance!

I would say definitely
I would say definitely include any non-fashion internships because any experience is good experience. When I applied to my first internship, all I had under experience were my high school volunteer activities and a retail job but I still put it on my resume and I got lucky and got the internship.
I think I just saw an internship post for SeenOn.com in SF on the internship boards. Also, there’s San Francisco magazine which has 2 internship programs for its magazine and its shopping/city guide. Or there’s glam.com. Hope everything goes well for you!
