Does anyone have any tips on how I can get work as a stylist? I’d love to work on fashion shoots etc but am not too sure where to or how to start. Thank you!
Pick up one of your favorite magazines (not a Vogue or Vanity Fair), maybe a smaller regional book. Look through the spreads in the well, read the credits, and get the name and agency of a stylist that worked on the shoot. Try and find them (linkedin, personal website) and email them. Tell them of your experience, if applicable, and that you’d love to meet with them. If you are lucky and they like you, be prepared to be sent all around town to pick up heavy garment bags and if you do go to the shoot, be ready to take down credits and steam clothes until your fingers prune.
You’ll most likely work for tears, so don’t go in expecting to get paid…at least not initially.
