Why is entry-level not really entry-level???

I am getting so frustrated with job postings that say entry-level, but then require more than 2 years experience. How is that entry-level?????? Does this frustrate anyone else??

Ugh tell me about it....

Ugh tell me about it…. I graduated over a year ago and still can’t land a job. All of the “entry level” jobs end up going to people with many more years of experience than me. They shouldn’t say entry level and then hire someone mid level!! How the hell am I supposed to GET exerience if no one hires me?!?!

i agree

I graduated in May, and even though I’m interning now, I’ll be trying to look for a “real” job in a few weeks. I’ve been keeping an eye on recent postings and everything seems to require “2 to 5 years” of experience. Sometimes, I feel like I’m never going to land my first job! I totally get your frustration.

I graduated last year with 2

I graduated last year with 2 internships,Post graduation and almost every job is “sorry you dont have enough experience”. This is so annoying! what ht heck do people want. I need to start my career, I am 23, I just want to work!!

Well, I doubt it’ll make

Well, I doubt it’ll make you guys feel any better, but once you DO have a few years’ experience, then you start getting thrown out of the race because you have TOO MUCH experience for some lower-level positions. So honestly, I think when you’re given the “you don’t have enough experience” or “you have too much” line, it usually just means you’re not a perfect fit for this job and we found someone else who is. If they really loved you for the role, they’d take the chance. I would definitely not let any ads that say “X years required” stop me from applying to a job I know I could do, despite whether I have that or not (within reason, of course), cause you never know when the individualities you have will match up with what the hirer is looking for. Of course, that doesn’t make it less frustrating.

Well I guess they just

Well I guess they just don’t love me then :( I don’t get it, I’ve been on soooo many interviews. I don’t understand how not one person could like me enough to hire me. I thought I did well in many of them too. I’m surprised I haven’t clicked with a single editor. Honestly, it hurts my feelings. I kind of take it personally, and it burns when I get rejected constantly.
