Anyone have any experience with the Milwaukee media market? I think I’ve tracked down most of the local publications, but am wondering what the job market is like there. My background is in magazines and web, and I have a few years experience in a larger city so I’m not looking for an entry-level position.
Also, have any Edsters done any freelance work for any Milwaukee-based pubs (such as the Journal-Sentinel, Milwaukee Magazine, Shepherd Express, and MKE)? Any gossip/tips? Freelancing is my backup plan if I cannot find a full-time job, but I don’t really know anyone in the city and am not sure how hard it is to break in.

MKE announced in the beginning of June that July 10 would be it’s last issue. You should also try freelancing for smaller, local papers, like the News Graphic or local Waukesha paper.
