Giving up too soon?

Hey guys,
I’m a recent grad and although I just started looking-my loans are looming and the scene is making me kind of antsy. I’ve been seeing a lot of jobs for EAs of medical journals, and although its something that would NOT interest me, I feel kinda silly ignoring it when I have no jobs on the horizon (especially with such a sweet salary of 40+ for a STARTING position). Would it be silly to apply when I know I’d just want to switch out anyway, or should I hold out for my **dream job?

Resources like the one you mentioned here will be very useful to me! I will post a link to this page on my blog. I am sure my visitors will find that very useful.

plus

those kinds of publications often times tend to be smaller, so you might end up getting more experience than you would at your dream mag (think: writing, editing, even helping with layout!). imagine how those skills would look on a resume…

The way I look at it is

You’ll be needing a job of some sort to start paying your bills. I’m in the same place you are and I know I’d rather have a magazine position that was less than ideal than be working at the Gap until I find my perfect job. There is nothing wrong with starting a position and then leaving it if something better comes along. I did it once already and I have no regrets. Plus, if you go with the EA position instead of something like the Gap, you’ll have some more experience to add to your resume which is always good.
