I am a current Junior in college majoring in English and minoring in Journalism. I would be happy to get an internship dealing with fashion, beauty, music, etc. but my passion is film. I have experience writing about film for my college newspaper and my dream career would be to be a film critic. However, I don’t think any newspapers are going to hire me out of college to be their critic. I really want experience working for a magazine dealing somehow with writing about film and I have my eyes set on a summer internship for 2009.
Can anyone recommend some magazines that would suit me? Please?
Thanks

Depending on where you live,
Depending on where you live, I say get a job writing for a multiple-college publication like Campus Circle or Saturday Night Magazine. From there you might want to get a job writing for a weekly (ie. SF Weekly, Village Voice, etc.) and then you can probably get a gig writing for a regular newspaper/blog.
