Flaunt Magazine

Anyone ever interned at Flaunt? What was your experience like?

I did!

I interned there, and I wanted to kill myself afterward. It was a horrible experience. They don’t give you much of anything to do, and if you do get something to write, it will be re-written 17 times before they’ll consider publishing it. They;re super particular.

The experience now might be different as they have a new EIC (who used to be a senior editor there). The fact is: the staff is really small, they freelance all of their work out, and most of everyone on the staff is a gay male on drugs. Plus, putting Flaunt on your resume doesn’t actually help. Unless you are an art/design/photo intern (which is what they’ve become known for), no one in the magazine industry gives Flaunt any credit, and most don’t even know what or where Flaunt is.

I just recommend staying far away from that magazine…you won’t get anything from your time there other than regrets.

Thanks for the input

How long ago did you intern there, and how long were you an intern?

I interned there after my sophomore year of college, and I was an intern there all summer. I’m from Los Angeles (which is where it’s based), and the Sunset Blvd locale in Hollywood was great, but that’s about it.
