I’m almost done with school—one semester to go and I really don’t need anymore internship credits. I’m willing to do the internship without pay and for experience. Most internships say that we must have school credit. Is this just a helpful option? Since I’m not asking for money or credit, will they take me on anyway?

It's illegal
It makes sense for you to want to work unpaid, as do I. I’d do whatever I could to get my foot in the door. But it’s illegal for someone to work for free. If you aren’t receiving school credit or a salary, you’re not allowed to work. That policy is followed at the big name companies. Conde Nast told me the same thing.
