So I’m starting to get frustrated at the lack of jobs available in San Diego. There seems to be plenty to go around in L.A. but moving is not an option at this point. I’ve interned with a couple of magazines in the area, but that’s as far as I’ve gotten. Does anyone have any advice or leads to magazines/websites in SD that are hiring?

hmm… not sure how far you are / if this would be an option due to INSANE gas prices… but I’ve actually seen a lot advertised in laguna/OC/even some dana point.. have you thought about freelancing? maybe once they see how awesome you are, they’ll offer you a paid position… (one can dream.. but ya never know!)
on another note, i’d loove any info on opportunities in LA/where to find jobs there. i’m planning on moving there as SOON as i land a job, but honestly am having a very hard time finding one, especially at magazines (i’m looking for anything editorial/design-related).. please, please HELP! any and all info would be appreciated seriously more than you know. thank you!

I have a friend that’s currently interning at 944, and I know she really loves it. There’s also San Diego Magazine, The Reader, and CityBeat. Have you tried those? Let me know if you need a contact! :)

Yeah, I interviewed for an internship with 944 but didn’t get it. I completed internships with Where Magazine and Riviera. Both were fun and good experiences. I think I may be leaning away from magazines and more toward communications (corporate or non-prof). I dunno.
