How long after applying should I expect a response?

I am graduating from college next week and still do not have a job lined up. I have been applying to jobs in magazines, book publishing, and even non media related since march, and havent gotten a response from a single one. How long does it usually take to get a response once you submit a resume?

I’d say within a week or

I’d say within a week or two they’re probably looking over applications and making calls or emails about interviews. I usually call a few days later to follow up and see if they recieved my resume, and ask when they will start the interview process. I only do that when it doesn’t say “NO PHONE CALLS.” But it gets my name in and I usually get an interview when I follow up.

Hmmmm

I think one to two weeks is fairly standard, but I’ve heard of some people getting responses back three or even four weeks later. For me, if I don’t hear back in three weeks I stop biting my nails over it. And I once got a response the very next day - so it really is all over the map.

Good luck!

It really depends, I

It really depends. I received a response in as quick as 5 minutes once, and it caught me off guard. But it can be as late as 2 weeks for me. One time a magazine replied to me a semester later asking if I was still interested. Good luck, I know how it feels to be antsy; I check my email every hour when I send something out. *LOL*
