I know these questions tend to pop up on the message board, but I did some research and couldn’t seem to find what I was looking for.
Basically, I want to know:
-Does Hearst’s 401k plan have a company match? If so, what is it? (Match = free money!)
-How many vacation days do assistant editors tend to get? I know this can be negotiable.
And hey, if you have this information for Conde or American Express that’d be great, too. I’m particularly interested in Hearst because I have a job prospect there. Thank you!
Hearst
401k company matches up to 6% of your salary. Can’t remember right now if it’s a 50% match or 100%, but I do know that it’s not fully vested until 3 years.
Vacation is 5 days the first year, 10 the second, and so on… not sure how far it goes.
I work for a Hearst
I work for a Hearst newspaper, so not sure if it’s the same across the board. I believe we get like 15 days total, plus 12 holidays? I could be wrong though, it doesn’t affect me until January 1 anyway.
As far as 401k, I believe they match up to half of what you put in with a cap at 3%. If you put in 6% they will put in half of that, which is 3. I’m pretty sure that’s what the HR lady told me.
Anyway I have the Hearst benefits packet in my car, I’ll double check later and write the correct stuff if I’m wrong.
Hearst benefits/other info
Did you ever get this information, Kella? Anyone have salary/vacation/sick time/etc. information on Hearst?
Yes, this isn’t the
Yes, this isn’t the sexiest question, but someone out there’s gotta know…
