Hey - Its okay! I came into this city for the summer completely homeless, but with an internship and a dream. I am actually staying on my friend’s couch for the whole summer… I’m incredibly gracious, because it is saving me the burden of those dreadful 1000+ per month rents. Look for friends with comfy couches or floor space for an air mattress! Don’t forget to cook for them occasionally and clean the place!
I’ve heard good things about Webster/Brandon from a couple of different people as well, but I called both (I have a similar problem because my internship runs all the way until mid-September), and Brandon’s completely booked all summer, Webster has *some* August/September availability.
If those really don’t work out, I’m sure by then you’d meet someone you could stay with for a couple of days and maybe chip in a little for rent.
If you’re female you can try the Webster Apartments in midtown (websterapartments.org) which is around $250/week or $75/day and includes meals. It’s dorm-like living and full of students, interns, and professionals. A similar place in the Upper West Side is called The Brandon (thebrandon.org), and they may also have weekly or daily rates. I’ve visited both and they are safe, clean, and affordable. Good luck!

Just wondering — did you
Just wondering — did you ever end up finding housing for August? I applied to Webster but haven’t heard back yet so otherwise I’m still looking too!
