After a newspaper internship,I figured summer internships for mags would be easy. Wrong! I’ve only had one interview,and nilch from the rest. I feel like I’m not good enough. Anyone have any positive advice? I’m hoping I get the one internship.

My advice is don’t give up…this industry is competitive, regardless if it’s for internships or jobs. Maybe get your resume and cover letter checked out by career services or an advisor, that could be the reason you’re not getting interviews. And try to build up clips in any way you can…newspaper, freelancing, school publications, etc. And start small…Bauer and locals pubs dont require alot of experience. But if you don’t get the one internship you interviewed for, dont be discouraged! I had 9 interviews for internships this summer but got turned down from 5…that’s how competitive it is…
