hi everyone!! i recently landed a summer internship at twist magazine (bauer publishing) that starts in mid-june and i have no idea what to wear! this is my first internship and first magazine experience so i’ll take all the advice i can get!!

Bauer dress code
I work at Bauer, and it’s pretty casual—people don’t get dressed up as fashionably since it’s in NJ, not NY, but don’t look sloppy. Most specifically, no cleavage, not too short and no flip flops, even in the heat of summer—change into ballet flats when you get here and you can kick them off once you’re at your desk, but it’s a pet peeve of a lot of editors. Otherwise, you can pretty much wear what you want.

I worked at a Bauer magazine last summer, and I’m sure the dress code is similar throughout the entire office…i just wore cute sun dresses and flats, or skinny jeans and cute flouncy tops.I tried to look cute and trendy every day, but you still want to be comfortable because odds are you’ll be on your feet alot.
Good luck and don’t stress about dress code! Dress code at most magazines is WAY more casual than at many other professional fields :)

My experience at bauer was good! I got some great experience and great contacts, not to mention a lot of free lunches:) But yeh, it’s not as glamorous as NYC. I don’t really have any tips to offer you,just good luck and have fun :)
