It's probably your resume/CL
Although you say your resume and cover letter are good, I can imagine that the only thing not getting you interviews is, in fact, your resume or cover letter. Have a career advisor look them over, and make sure to tailor your cover letter to each individual publication to which you are applying. Assuming you have good experience, your resume should get you noticed.
If not, maybe try the smaller publications as opposed to the big ones…it is obviously easier to get internships there. Or maybe try a local newspaper..I know it may not be ideal, but odds are you’ll get more hands-on experience and walk away with some great clips.
Good luck!!
thanx i had my resume and
thanx i had my resume and cover letter checked out before i sent them out but i’ll go back to my career advisor and have her look at them again, it’s frustrating i’m graduating next year so i know i wont be able to get a job w/o an nternship first
make sure that you aren’t
make sure that you aren’t sending a standard cover letter—it HAS to be tailored to the publication you are applying to, or they probably won’t look at it. also, just applying to HR or whatever isn’t great, you need to have a contact (maybe you do, just saying). cover letter is huge, and your resume should be simple and no more than a page. hope that helps.
