Hi,
I am a recent graduate in photography and I need some advice about a photo internship I might be offered. I have had 2 interviews so far at this magazine in NYC. The internship is for the spring but it’s only 2 days a week. Its paid but I’m not sure if it would be worth it to take. I am planning to move to the city soon, but I wouldn’t be able to support myself on only 2 days worth of pay. I was wondering if you thought it would be worth it to take the position purely for the experience and networking I could get from my time there?

Internships are the way in…and this one is paid, which is even better! Perhaps another internship will open up that you can take on as well, or you can spend the rest of the week working part time elsewhere.

You’re lucky to be able to get an internship after college—especially if it’s paid! These are so rare to get. Take the internship and you’ll also have time for another part-time job (as a receptionist, office assistant, etc) and because you have the available hours you won’t have to limit yourself to waitressing or retail. Consider yourself luck if you get the position!!
